Brunch is always a good idea
If you’re a late riser and a sometimes early drinker, mimosa’s (R53) at Clarke’s bar and dining room serve up the freshest OJ and Champagne, darling!
Where, when, why:
Cape Town’s city landscape is one that is like no other. With some of the country’s
best street fashion and food scene it vibrates a trendy and stylish energy. Clarke’s at
133 Bree Street is nothing short of this. The waiters and managers have tattoos and
wear ironic t-shirts. Yes, just like the ones people wear at Afropunk and Rocking the Daisies festivals.
Why we love it
The atmosphere is like a farm and an in-city café made a baby. The food is fresh and
full of flavour; while the space is upbeat with a delicate aroma of coffee. Only a true
foodie could understand that a place that serves a four cheese mac and cheese for
R69 is worth Instagraming. Maybe you don’t like cheese (and that’s only okay if
you’re lactose intolerant), you might want to try something on the all-day breakfast
menu from crispy bacon to its house-made kimchi; Clarke’s has something for
Fire eggs – R65
Hibiscus and Gin Soda – R59
French Toast- R69
Mimosa me now!
Sometimes life can get a bit *insert Cape Town accent… HECTIC. Why not unwind
and take it easy with the bars’ impressive drinks and cocktail menu. The bloody Mary
is for sure going to give you a bloody kick in the throat. If you want to try a drink on
the sweeter side, perhaps the hibiscus and Gin soda is more your taste.
If not for nothing, Clarke’s bar and dining room is the place for people who enjoy a good
time and delicious food and who doesn’t like either of those things. From breakfast to
brunch, lunch to dinner, you’re bound to find something to you’ll love.
And just for you!
