“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard”

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard

Mowbray’s little gem

For some reason that song is etched on our mind every time we think of Mowbrays’ little gem: The Salt Yard. If you are looking for a cosy place to take bae, or just a chilled family-and-friends gathering: then this is the place for you.

The Salt Yard is an artistic restaurant nestled in Lower Mowbray (it’ll take some higher grade witchcraft to miss it, but for that person at the back not listening: we’ve got you, the address is at the bottom).

The Salt Yard

The vibe

The Salt Yard turns into a cage filled with humming birds just after 6pm. If you are in the mood for a hearty burger / meal – The Salt Yard is where all the locals find themselves.

Along Lower Main Road you also get Cape Town’s infamous taxis. This also add their own interesting layer to The Salt Yards’ location. Echos of sliding door operators (aka what we Capetonians refer to as “gaatjies”) saying “Byellvill” “KaypTown” and cars driving past. This fuses beautifully with the lulls of the restaurant, laughter of happy clients and clanging cutlery. These sounds really brings to life some aspects of Cape Town’s culture.

The Salt Yard

“Melting pot of culinary perfection”

The Salt Yard is also a melting pot of culinary perfection. The chef really does know how to do the things that must be done and make the pots to be made! Their gourmet burgers will even have the most hardcore vegan rethinking their life choices. The menu will have you feeling like you are sitting in the lap of luxury because your choices are so endless and affordable.

The service

It gets better guys! There’s no need to point, wave or create any sort of theatre ensemble to get your waiters’ attention. The staff is always on alert to serve. Your job, my friend, is just to eat and unwind after your day as a full-time human being (we know how tiring that can be).

The Salt Yard

Now you can never say we didn’t put you onto something new. So please don’t be an Enemy of Progress (or what we like calling an “EP”). It is possible to bring all the boys to the yard without spending your whole salary.

Remember, eat well and stay TrendE.
