Cape Town International Film Market & Festival
The annual Cape Town International Film Market and Festival has started with a variety of film projects which cover many genres from Africa and the world at large running from the 9th – 19th October 2018.
The film screenings take place at various cinemas at the V&A Waterfront and are open to the public. There are also family friendly films being shown for free at the Amphitheater.
The festival showcases 120 world-class films, with a large inclusion of African content. With a variety of independent feature films, short films and documentaries.
The festival places a large focus on first time directors, new LGBTQI releases, Eco Cinema and Cinema of Conscience this year.

Boschendal Friday Night Market
Kick-start your weekend at the weekly Friday night market at Boschendal in Franschhoek. The market has a variety of fresh farm foods on sale as well as live music, slow food stalls and local products on sale.
The market starts at 6pm every Friday and entrance is free.

Big 5 Comedy Show
The 5 Comedy Show hosts acts from South African stand up comedy heavyweights Stuart Taylor, Jason Goliath, Tumi Morake, Joey Rasdien and John Vlismas at the Grand Arena, Grandwest Casino.
This comedy show has been to Cape Town before and is making a return, with an age restriction of PG 16. Tickets range from R180 to R300 and the show starts at 7pm. Don’t miss out on this experience, you might even leave with a six-pack from laughter get your tickets.
Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival
This isn’t an event for those who are trying their best to see this Ocsober through. Stellenbosch’s Oktoberfest returns this year on Saturday, which makes a great family day out with the best food trucks, breweries and entertainment. It will be an amazing event as per usual and won’t disappoint at all.

Elgin Railway Market
Looking for something different to do this weekend!
The Elgin Railway Market is a great way to spend a warm Saturday afternoon or a lazy Sunday. The market is just an hours drive out of Cape Town’s City Center or better yet a 3 hour return steam train ride from Cape Town to the market (The train trip can be booked online via the markets website).
The Elgin Railway Market was once an apple warehouse and was converted into an indoor market spaces. Which now houses a variety of foods, drinks and souvenirs that market goers are able to enjoy every weekend. Some of the favourites include but are not limited to The Station Grill for ribs and burgers, El Sombrero for Mexican dishes and L-Gin for artisanal gin.

Gin for the Win!
Roast & Co is hosting a series of events in the Heritage Square courtyard with Hendrick’s Ginand Fitch & Leedes, that will see highly esteemed bartenders battle it off to create the perfect blended Gin cocktail.
Each event will have 3 bartenders competing against one another, representing themselves and the bars they work at.
Guests will act as the judging panel and will need to book a table for lunch, pay a nominal fee of R145pp and receive 4 Gin cocktail tickets to use to redeem one of each of the cocktails on offer plus another of their favourite.
Voting is simple and will be done by tallying up the tickets at the end of the event. The bartender with the most tickets wins the round and will be back for the finale in February 2019.
Winning bartender from each preliminary round will receive a R1500 cash prize as well as a R2000 Hendricks Cocktail Hamper.
Live DJ’s and entertainment throughout the day will keep energy high in order to create great atmosphere in the courtyard.

The finale will be held in February 2019 and will culminate in a huge vibe in the courtyard with the winners of the previous rounds showcasing their skills in order to claim the grand prize.
Bartenders stand in line to win a Grand prize includes winning a R10 000 Hendricks Gin event for their respective bar along with a R3000 cash prize!

26th Annual Gun Run 2018
After all the weekend’s feasting at all the markets, what better way to end it off at the Gun Fun run and keep that summer body in check.
The Gun Run is an annual race/ fun run that starts at Green Point with a 21km half marathon, 10km race and a 5km fun run.
Come and run for a purpose, with every R10 made from the sale of T-shirts goes towards the Amy Foundation. The entry fees range from free to R225 per person.
Unfortunately entries are closed. Good luck to all those who have entered and those who haven’t your support as spectators will be highly appreciated by the runners.
