If you’re drinking your daily dose of H20 as it is, you’re so 2000-and-late, honey. Water-infusions are all the rage. This skin-clearing, waist trimming, and metabolism-boosting water-infusions taste delicious and will give you a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.

Whether you spend your days behind a desk, or you’re heading out to a funky festival with some friends, you can stay hydrated and rejuvenated with one (or all) of these five recipes/combinations.

2. Lemon Water: 

This recipe is perfect for giving your immune system a helping hand. Lemon is packed with Vitamin C and a healthy dose of potassium. Drinking a warm glass of water with a slice or two of this tangy fruit is great especially in the mornings as it can help flush your digestive system and hydrate your body. It’s an effective antioxidant for your liver and your lymph system.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 liters of water
  • 1 Lemon

Method:

Juice one lemon. Add the lemon juice too two liters of water.

3. Cucumber and Mint Water: 

This refreshing combination acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory which will reduce bloating. So if you suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), or want to have a flatter stomach for summer – this recipe is your answer! Oh, and don’ t forget to add a slice of lime for a Vitamin C kick!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 12 Fresh Mint leaves
  • 2 Liters of Water

Method:

Slice half a cucumber. Add the cucumber and 12 fresh mint leaves into the two liters of water.

4. Strawberry and Basil Water: 

Here are a fun and healthy infusion that will aid in weight loss. The unique flavour will have you powering through liters of water. The savoury of the basil will trick you into thinking you’ve eaten and are full. PLUS, basil has anti-bacterial properties – which is GREAT for your immune system!

Ingredients: 

  • 5 Strawberries (Chopped in five quarters)
  • 7 Basil leaves
  • 2 Liters of Water

Method:

Chop five strawberries into five quarters. Add the strawberries and basil leaves into the water.

5. Apple and Cinnamon: 

You know what they say hey… ”An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Drink this effective water infusion for a week and you’ll understand why! Apples are full of fibers that promote good digestive health and they are great detox food. Cinnamon is arguably the best ingredient for weight loss! Cinnamon fights the, often, painful bloating that many IBS sufferers experience. This recipe is a definite must!

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Apple
  • 2 Sticks of Cinnamon
  • 2 Liters of Water

Method: 

Slice an apple. Chop the apple into small quarters. Add the apple and cinnamon sticks into the water.

7. Ginger Water: 

If you want to fight germs, illness, inflammation and most cancer-causing molecules, this stem is your best bet. Cut a couple slices of fresh ginger and add it to water that is room temperature for the plants nutrients to best infuse with the water. If you’re feeling nauseous, you’ll appreciate a bit of ginger tea too.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Medium sized Ginger Root
  • 2 Liters of Water

Method:

Shave the skin off a medium-sized ginger root. Slice the ginger and add it too the two liters of water.

When making these water infusions, you can add all types of fresh fruits, exotic spices, and herbs to suit your palate!

Note: Too much acid will upset your stomach and aggravate PH levels, especially for woman. So don’t be too heavy-handed with your berries and lemons!
