Nothing breaks like a heart

Ever heard the genres of country and disco join forces in one single song? Well guess what; our girl, Miley Cyrus, has done just that in her latest release titled ‘Nothing Breaks like a Heart’, and it is pure perfection. It has been a while since Miley last blessed us with her majestic music, but based on this new track, we can truly say that the singer is back with a BANG. A raw vocal paired with the subtle sound of orchestral strings and a groovy beat suggest that she is trying out a new style, and we are loving it! The provocative pop star teamed up with Mark Ronson to produce this banger, which was released 29th November alongside a music video.

Noticeable references

Of course, Miley maintains her flashy nature as we get a glance of her bootyful behind. The song has already reached 13 million views in the first week and it leads us to think that this tune will join Miley’s list of greats, including: Wrecking Ball, Adore You and Malibu. The video makes a noticeable reference to the gun violence and political climate in the USA at the moment. The songstress expresses her sadness towards the situation through her lyrics and also makes reference to the California Wildfire, which happened not too long ago. Cyrus lost her home during this time and mentions it in the song as she sings: ‘this burning house, there’s nothing left’.

Fans have taken to Twitter acknowledging the video’s sneaky use of references to previous moments in Miley’s career. These include a miniature wrecking ball figure in the singer’s car as well as news headlines reading “Miley’s Wild Ride”, shadowing her Hannah Montana days.

Visiting the Mother City

The singer was said to have recently visited the Mother City. However, there have been no indications from the star herself as she has kept ‘hush’ on social media. However, Miley’s sister, Brandi Cyrus (who also visited Cape Town) was not shy to share her trip on Instagram, where she is seen posing with Miley in the Bo-Kaap and on top of Lions Head. These pics were posted in mid-November and confirm that the ‘Hannah Montana’ star was indeed in the city.

Locals have captured photos alongside Miley, who was spotted publicly at the Watershed, V&A Waterfront as well as PRESENTspace in Gardens. Rumours going around suggest that the star is in town for filming purposes. Do we smell another music
video in the making?

Stay TrendE.
