Just a one hour drive from Cape Town CBD, we find the beautiful Babylonstoren, tucked away in the heart of Franschhoek. This historic Cape Dutch Farm has so much more to offer than your usual winery. The breathtaking aesthetics of the entire place will leave you speechless. They offer wine tastings and tours on a daily basis, starting at the low price of only R60 p.p. for six wines. The wine tasting is held in the tasting room, which is another exquisite extension of the farm. They also have daily cellar tours and large groups can be accommodated. This is unquestionably a place where one can easily spend the entire day soaking up all the beauty that it has to offer. Here is a little bit more about Babylonstoren…

The Garden:

The huge garden is the main attraction at Babylonstoren; it consists of an extensive range of fruits and vegetables, grown as organically as possible. Although there is beautiful symmetry throughout, it is so easy to get lost in all the beauty. The garden also boasts a large prickly pear maze, which is a favourite for remarkable pictures. #prickleypearmaze #babylonstorengarden

The Hotel & Spa:

A beautiful way to wind down, accommodation at Babylonstoren is the epitome of tranquility.
The spa is perfect for relieving stress and for some unaffected relaxation; good news is that it is
open for day visitors as well as hotel guests. Rates and more information are available on their
website.

Restaurants and Shops

The Greenhouse:

The Greenhouse is the cheaper, more informal restaurant at Babylonstoren. You can have scones and tea and wonderful light meals that won’t break the bank! If you are on a budget – we suggest opting for The Greenhouse instead of Babel.

The Bakery:

The bakery is open to visitors and during the winter seasons – they have a pasta and pizza night for a select view customers. It is always fully booked, so make sure that you make a reservation. Plus, it is something to look forward to when winter arrives again (hopefully with rain!!!).

The Wine:

Additionally, there are two spectacular shops to visit on site selling a wide variety of goodies, ranging from scented candles and freshly picked fruits to spectacular printed linens. You are guaranteed to leave with something beautiful and a smile on your face. What you should know Babylonstoren also offers Garden tours, Cellar tours, Tea ceremonies and three gorgeous venues for private functions.

How To Dress:

Dress according to the weather, be sure to wear comfy shoes as the grounds are huge and you are more than likely to explore for hours on end. Sunscreen and a hat for sunny days and an umbrella for colder days. There is always something wonderful to see even for the little ones, there are a number of furry friends around, so prepare to be blown away by Babylonstoren, and remember to check their website and follow their Instagram page to stay connected and updated.
