Forbes published its annual list of America’s Wealthiest Celebrities and with it came the not-so-shocking-news that the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family made the top five.
That’s right – we’re talking about Kylie Jenner, the founder and CEO of cosmetics company Kylie Cosmetics. We’re taking a look at all of her businesses, how she started and what we can expect from this young almost-billionaire.
According to Forbes, she has a net worth of $900 million, and shares the fifth spot with rapper Jay Z. At just 21 years old, Kylie Jenner is the youngest and highest paid earner among the Kardashian-Jenner clan. She’s also the youngest in the rankings on Forbes’ highest-paid celebrities list . Get it, girl.
Rich And Famous:
The makeup mogul is now one of the wealthiest stars in America, along with Tiger Woods and James Patterson (No.9; $800 million), Diddy (No.8; $825 million), David Copperfield (No.7; $875 million), Michael Jordan (No.4; $1.7 billion), Oprah Winfrey (No.3; $2.8 billion), Steven Spielberg (No.2; $3.7 billion) and George Lucas (No.1; $5.4 billion).
Kylie’s $900 Million Fortune:
Her massive fortune can be attributed to her fame as a reality TV star, her beauty business, and her endorsement deals with Puma and PacSun.
Kylie dropped her first make-up product, the Kylie Lip Kit (a liquid lipstick and lip liner set) in 2015. The hype was real, as the initial launch sold out in less than a minute, crashing the website. It is reported that Kylie used a quarter million dollars of her own money from her modelling career to make the first 15 000 lip kits.
In 2016, Kylie relabelled her business as Kylie Cosmetics and expanded the collection into a full make-up range, including eyeshadow palettes, concealers, glosses, highlighters, blushes and more. Within just two years, Kylie Cosmetics sold more than $630 million worth of make-up. As sales continue to soar, Kylie Cosmetics is one of the fastest growing beauty brands in the world. Its new releases tend to sell out at super speed.
The Power Of Social Media:
The successful cosmetics company is marketed primarily through Kylie’s personal Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter accounts. The social media star has a following of 121 million followers on Instagram alone. “Social media is an amazing platform,” she told Forbes. “I have such easy access to my fans and my customers.”
