With summer finally here, the longer days and balmy evenings make a night market the perfect outing – with fairy lights leading the way to a delicious aromas from food stall as the background tunes lull you into a festive mood. We have compiled a list of hidden gems, with the insider’s tip to the best night markets to visit in Cape Town.

Four Night Markets To Visit In CPT:

1. Blue Bird Garage Market:

Hosted solely on Friday, the Blue Bird Garage Food Goods Market showcases
the true hospitality of Muizenberg. The market is home to a select number of artisans, from local designers to bakers. An eclectic vibe is echoed through the market, with the indie-like live tunes is the ideal spot to savour a proudly South African wine. It may appear small but the cosy setting makes it an intimate affair and adds to the buzz of the evening.

Opening Times: The market is open from 4pm to 10pm and entrance is free.

2. Century City Night Market:

The recently launched Century City Summer Night Market will begin from 7th December and is held at the Square. Century City is known for their popular Summer Natural Goods Market and the Winter Market. There will be live music, an array of food options and gift options to purchase for your loved ones or friends.

Opening Times: 4pm till late, there is no entrance charge to the event.

3. Chilled Market at the Range:

Open on Friday’s, the Chilled Range market is nestled between the Constantia winelands and the Tokai Forest, offering two views with breathtaking views of the Cape. Hosted in a rustic log cabin and under a permanent marquee, the market is the ideal place to share a meal with friends while seated on a communal table with friendly locals. Kids are able play in the outdoor area, jungle gym and jumping castles. We are not sure if there is an age restriction on jumping castles (we are hoping there isn’t).

Ticket Details: Entry is free and the event runs from 4:30pm to 9:30pm every Friday.

4. I Love Big Bay Market:

Take in the smells of the ocean at the I Love Big Bay Market, hosted in Blouberg on the last Wednesday of every month. Capture a sensational sunset with the iconic Table Mountain the background for Insta at the market. With over 30 fashion, craft and good stalls, attendees are spoilt for choice. Grab a craft beer on tap and watch the waves crash while feasting one of the 10 dinner options available – from spicy curry to fresh calamari.

Opening hours: Open from 4pm – 9pm, the event is situated near to the Eden on the Bay Shopping Centre on the Big Bay Beach Promenade.
