Did you know that our skin is the biggest organ on our entire bodies; this is why we need to protect it. So whether you have dry, oily or combination skin; acne, stubborn blackheads or an uneven complexion, we have a 100% natural face mask/scrub that’ll get to work on your skin. We’re giving you a few face masks to make at home (#DIY because anybody can – Suzelle)!
Avocado Mask (Dry Skin)
Our rule of thumb is that if we can’t put it in our mouths, it won’t go on our skin. Avocado is a great source of vitamin A, E and D – which we naturally get from the sun. It is also one of the only ‘good’ fats, so if you have some left over after making your mask you can smash it on some toast and have a snack.
Half an avocado
Teaspoon of honey (antibacterial and moisturizing properties)
Teaspoon of lemon juice (even skin tone)
1 egg white (minimizes pores and firms up skin)
Combine all ingredients to make a paste. Smooth over skin and let rest for 20 – 30 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Moisturize skin immediately.
Sugar Face Scrub (Blackheads & Breakouts)
Not only do scrubs get rid of dead skin, but they wake up the cells and muscles in your face with a gentle yet effective massage. After this simple sugar scrub, your skin will feel smooth and it’ll prevent acne.
2 tablespoon brown/granulated sugar
1 tablespoon coconut oil (reduces acne and is an anti-inflammatory)
Combine coconut oil and sugar in a small bowl, and stir. Rub scrub on face and neck, using gentle circular motions, for 60 seconds. Rinse with warm water and moisturize immediately after.
Turmeric Mask (Dull Complexion)
Health fanatics are all about this root. It’s an effective antioxidant that slows down cell damage, improves your skin’s texture, helps improve psoriasis and eczema, and diminishes wrinkles. On top of all that, it reduces pigmentation and evens out skin tone. It could be an unsung superfood by the looks of it.
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons of flour (fights pimples and moisturizes skin)
3 tablespoons milk (combats acne and evens skin tone)
1 teaspoon of honey (antibacterial, antioxidant that slows skin aging)
Mix all the ingredients together to make a thick paste. Apply onto skin and leave for 20 minutes. Scrub off gently with warm water. Dry completely, then moisturize.
Strawberry and Lemon Mask (Oily Skin)
These acidic fruits are effective sebum and oil removers. The Vitamin C rejuvenates and revitalizes your skin while evening out your compulsion. Strawberries are also high in collagen, which is a protein that makes up 20% of our bodies. Collagen provides elasticity in your skin and replaces dead skin cells.
1/4 cup mashed strawberries
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon yogurt (antibacterial properties)
1 tablespoon honey (moisturizes skin and slows down aging skin)
Mash all of the ingredients together in a paste not a liquid. Apply evenly all over your face and let sit 8 -10 minutes. Wipe off with a warm, damp towel and then rinse face with tepid water. Pat dry and moisturize immediately.
