With every award season, we see the glitz and the glam and with each red carpet – we also see the good, the bad and the ugly. The SAG Awards were no different. We’re listing our best and worst dressed of this red carpet.
Danai Gurira looks magnificent. Her glowy face perfectly matches her very tres chic white dress from Ralph & Russo. Not only did this Black Panther win awards during the ceremony – but this dress and outfit are also a standout winner. We loved that her jewelry and her shoes were understated, to complement the feathers of the dress.
The stylish Emily Blunt Returns. Excuse the bad Mary Poppins Returns pun – but Emily looks like a tall drink of water. We love the slick hair, the minimalist earrings and nude lip with this show-stopper dress. The structure of the dress is perfectly symmetrical and we must give some credit to Michael Kors – he sure knows how to flaunt a woman’s physique. Fabulous, da’hling!
We love the stark contrast between the white, flowy, ethereal dress and the the ox-blood-red lipstick (almost modern-Morticia Addams glam), pointy shoe and choker. We might seem shallow – but we will always remember Gaga this way.
We Loewe this dress. Yes – it is on the safer side of the fashion closet, but it is just so dreamy. With a structured bodice to see her beautiful decolletage, this is a home run for us. Some stylists want to clutter this space, but we love how Danielle Nachmani and her team styled this look so effortlessly.
We wish this (could be) us. Mandy’s makeup is perfect and her body is ON FIRE. Too soon?
Patricia Clarkson looks stunning. This lady, or her stylist, sure knows how to dress for her age. Way too often we see older ladies dressing like they’re 20. We’re all for embracing your body and feeling younger than the calendar says – but there is a way to do it and this is the way to do it. Well done, Patricia! You look elegant, on-trend and young! We love the leg, we love the cape-inspired sleeves and we love that you are keeping us wanting more. BRAVA!
And we’re leaving the best for last. Yara Shahidi is our BEST DRESSED celebrity on this year’s SAG Awards red carpet. This young star is dressed in Fendi Couture and we are Fending it hard to critique.
A sequence pantsuit (tailored to perfection) with a tulle dress over it. Makeup: BIG YES. Hair: MAJOR. Stunning. Youthful. Unique. We’re running out of compliments, but you get it: we’re raving over this look.
The problem we have with this look is that we are loving the vibe of this dress but hating the mullet. Can we all agree that mullet dresses are circa 2008 and it should stay there. The rest of the dress, the styling, and the glam are all to die for and she looks crazy rich
Asians. But the mullet. We can’t un-see the mullet. That is why this look is on the fence.
We’re having a love-hate relationship with this look. Originally, it made the BEST DRESSED LIST, but with further investigation, it slowly dropped to the on-the-fence list. We can’t pin-point what we don’t like, maybe it is all the colours. We would have loved to see one colour on the bottom and then pick up the different colours in the flowers and the bodice? #unsure.
This dress is like standing at a buffet table – unsure what to take, what to leave – so you end up having a bit of everything because you want your money’s worth. Choker. Oversized bow. Diamante. Two smaller bows. CAN’T.
This just seems as if they took a bubble dress from the early 2000’s (that shrunk) and but a long dress underneath. This is a no from us.
We’re having flashbacks to The Sound Of Music where Julie Andrews made garments for the children from the curtain material. Fast-forward a whole lot of years – you see Henry Golding on the SAG Awards’ red carpet in a blazer that looks like Julie made it from MrPrice Home curtains with blocking at the back. Nope. Not a win.
Speaking of iconic movies. We didn’t know the red carpet had a Once Upon A Time theme? A Cinderella Story, anyone? This fairy godmother missed the mark, big time. Kate Nash – we wish we could use our magic wand and turn back the clock – but you are our WORST DRESSED celeb for this year’s SAG Awards.
This is really hard for us, because we adore Lupita but once again the buffet table strikes again. Kind of like a YDE dress, circa 2010. All-in-one. Blazer-dress? Check. Sleeveless sleeve with corset? Check. Detailed skirt with diamante. Check.
The red-and-black lace dress is always a very, very tricky one. And this look is no different. It just seems like Betty Boop and Dita von Teese had a lace love child in a not-so-great way.
This man is gorgeous. It is hard to fault to him. But what on God’s green Earth is that harness? *When you had a meeting with Christian Grey at 6PM but have to be on the SAG red carpet at 7? Like what is that? His pursed lips also tell us that he is unhappy with the choices he made that day.
Oh, Sandra Oh. Your dress does not land you this coveted spot on the Worst Dressed list, but your fringe and shoes sure do. You are still our person. #greystillwedie
